Hey! I’m Martin Stepanek, and I created Histamine Life for you.
The story began in 2024 when I finally discovered the source of my gut and intestinal issues that had troubled me for over two decades. The diagnosis from my new gastroenterologist was strong histamine intolerance, along with an egg white allergy, milk protein allergy, and lactose intolerance.
These diagnoses forced me to completely rebuild my eating habits from scratch. At the beginning of this journey, I quickly realized that reliable information about histamine intolerance was scarce online.
Because of this, I decided to share my life story and start writing about my firsthand experiences with this condition, hoping to help others find trustworthy information from someone who truly understands what it’s like to live with HIT and other allergies and intolerances daily.
Histamine Life primarily focuses on histamine intolerance, but much of the content—such as recipes and food tips—will also be helpful for people with other food intolerances and allergies. I only share foods that I have personally cooked and eaten.
When it comes to my own story, my symptoms are a bit different from others. I usually don’t experience the typical symptoms. Instead, I deal with something more disruptive to my daily life: regurgitation.
My combination of food allergies and intolerances has created unique challenges, like finding good sources of protein that don’t cause issues. Since I can’t eat most high-protein foods, my options are mostly limited to meat.
I’ll be sharing my full story over time, along with my daily experiences, through content here and on social media.
